Back to the Slobs!

I went back to the South Slob this afternoon expecting the reflections and shadows under this bridge to offer an interesting composition. I wasn't disappointed, but perhaps it would have been more interesting if the water was a little more choppy. Still it was dry and sunny, so no complaints!

I must ask, 'What is a Slob?'.

Your usual control of tonal range and vibrant colour make this interesting composition. There's only one thing I've spotted in the photograph that might be of use in the painting and that is the lovely sharp deep shadow that is at the base of the bridge at the bottom left end of the arch.

Hi Rob,

Just experimenting a bit with this one. Yep, there was a time in the not too distant past when I'd have been flinging the colour everywhere!

Thanks Mick, but I think as something borderingon abstract, it might have benefited from pushing the colour differences a bit more - might still pay with it some. The term "slob" describes a tidal estuary with a large expanse of mud flats and marsh-land, probably a bit like what one would find on the Norfolk coast. Alternatively, the term has been applied to yours truly occasionally by my nearest and dearest, in fairness with a certain amount of justification!
