Storm Breaker - Finished

I finished the painting yesterday. Just added a little more warm and cool pinks to the foam burst area in the right front quadrant and then worked on the left foreground, taking care to avoid any hard edges in this area. I also did a few other touch-ups on the main breaking wave.

I'm pleased with the fact that it looks like a North Atlantic storm wave, mainly because of the muted blue-green colours in the background.

And it works beautifully. It's amazing how the smallest of changes can make such a big impact. Love it.

Thanks Mick. It's always a good idea to step back from a painting when it's nearing completion and ask yourself is the full colour spectrum represented (in the sense of balance, can be muted colour if that works better). Here I felt the painting lacked some colour from the red end of the spectrum - the trick is to find somewhere appropriate - the foam burst in this instance.
