Storm Breaker - Update No 1

I worked on the background a little more this morning. I'll leave it another day or so before working on the foreground.

This is turning into a fabulous demonstration. Can't wait till the next instalment. I'm fascinated to compare this with the way you depicted the sea in that picture you referred me to when your wave was inspired by E. John Robinson. The way you build your detail is much different. You have clearly grown comfortable in developing your own style.

Thanks Mick. I know the painting you mean. Painted about fifteen years ago, long before I started to work plein air and when I relied a lot more on photos and instruction books (mind you the late and great E.John was about as good an instructor in marine painting as anyone could get). Hopefully, my own style is emerging, but "comfortable" in it, I don't think so!

Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment, Carolyn. I finished the painting yesterday and will post it today, if I manage to get a good photo (dark and very wet here today).
